The same jar sells to four groups for four different reasons. Give the wrong reason and the sale is lost regardless of product quality.
They have heard of stingless bee honey and want to try it. They buy small, decide quickly, and if they like it they come back for a larger size. What to say: focus on what is different — the tart finish, the bee that cannot sting, the tiny yield. Do not talk about health benefits.
They need something that looks considered and carries a story worth telling when it is handed over. Price-insensitive but very attentive to packaging and provenance. What to say: named apiary, batch code, and have gift boxes ready. Usually the best-margin group.
Already familiar and buying repeatedly. The most valuable group over time. What to say: less. Keep the quality steady, tell them before you run out, and remember which season they prefer. One of these is worth many of group one.
They ask about consistent volume, packaging specification and quality documentation, not about flavour. What to say: give honest figures on the volume you can commit to and do not promise beyond it. A small apiary that takes a large order and under-delivers loses both the relationship and its reputation.
Groups one and two arrive mainly through search and social media. Group three comes through direct relationships, usually private messages. Group four comes through referrals or speciality trade fairs. A small apiary does not need all four channels at once — pick two and do them properly.
They work for discovery, but fees and price competition thin the margin. Use them to be found, then move regulars to a direct channel.
Medium usually sells best. But you must carry a small size, or group one never becomes group three.
No. Honey is a food, and claiming it treats conditions is both prohibited and corrosive to the trust of your best customers.
With this yield you do not need many customers. You need the ones you have to come back.
You do not need everything at once. A sensible order for a small operation that intends to last.
Four things that substitute for standing in front of the buyer with a spoon.
Gift packaging genuinely raises the price a jar can command. Some of it does nothing but add cost.
Looking at a competitor and shaving a little off is the fastest way to lose money. How a small apiary works out its floor.
